Shannon Bream was recently named the anchor of FOX News Sunday – serving as the third journalist to helm the influential program, and first woman in the show’s 26-year history. Bream made her debut on September 11th and since taking over the anchor seat on FOX News Sunday, Bream has increased the ratings with the younger demographic. FOX News Sunday with Shannon Bream is the only Sunday public affairs program that has double-digit percent gains year to year with the younger 25-54 age demographic. In addition to her role as anchor, Bream continues to serve as a chief legal correspondent for the network and host of Livin’ the Bream, a podcast on FOX News Radio (FNR) where she shares inspirational stories, personal anecdotes and an insider’s perspective on actions and rulings from the high court.

She is also a founding author for FOX News Books, the publishing imprint of FOX News Media. Notably, her debut title, The Women of the Bible Speak: The Wisdom of 16 Women and Their Lessons for Today was 13th bestselling book in adult nonfiction in 2021, according to Bookscan, and spent 15 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, five of which at Number One.

She is based in the Washington, D.C., Bureau and lives nearby with her husband, Sheldon, and lab, Biscuit.

During FOX News Channel’s upcoming midterm election coverage on Tuesday, November 8th (6PM-1AM/ET), she will use a new, immersive touch screen to report on the FOX News Voter Analysis, a survey of early and Election Day voters conducted in all 50 states by the nonpartisan research organization NORC at the University of Chicago for FOX News and the Associated Press.

She granted me an exclusive interview about all-things-travel for Forbes.com, including why she loves to fly-fish and why she always packs a scarf. From our interview, I can tell you that she is just as friendly and warm in person – well, by phone — as she appears on TV.

What was your favorite destination that you traveled to in the past year?

Honestly, my favorite place is Franklin, Tennessee – it’s very walkable – great break from the hustle and bustle of Washington DC – I love the Harpeth Hotel. (The Harpeth Franklin Downtown, Curio Collection by Hilton.)

What’s in Franklin?

It’s just outside Nashville – a step back in time. My favorite bookstore in the world is there, it’s very walkable, it’s a beautiful small town. The book store is Landmark Books – it’s amazing because the building is more than 100 years old – they carry everything – and the owners will help you find anything….you can go in sit, and relax. It’s very personal. If you like a small-town vibe, you will love it. We were there last year when they lit the Christmas tree, and it was like being in a Hallmark movie — yes! (laughs)

Do you have an overall favorite hotel?

The Ritz-Carlton in Bachelor Gulch, Colorado. We love it as a base for everything outdoors – hiking, fly-fishing and a lot of fresh air. I go fly-fishing…..it’s so relaxing. You can’t be on your phone or texting or surfing the web. There’s no reception and you have to be in the moment and it’s beautiful.

What hotel loyalty programs do you belong to?

Marriott Bonvoy.

Best vacation ever?

My favorite was late 2019 in Italy…..we spent a few days in Rome and then going through Tuscany – we visited olive vineyards and went to the most amazing farm where the owner has goats and sheep and makes pecorino cheese – it was such an adventure. They let us do some hands-on things – the farmer wanted us to have a full experience….we made ricotta… My husband and I went with our two best friends, The Bakers……Jeff Baker even milked a goat. The cheese was amazing. We had an interpreter with us….the farmer was very humble, and apparently The New York Times had found and discovered him…we were glad to have tasted it too.

The resort town was Monteverdi…….it was the coolest place.

Best souvenir ever bought on a trip?

We always buy Christmas ornaments, even if it’s in the middle of summer……..it’s a trip down memory lane .

How do you stay fit and trim in your travels — what do you eat, and how do you exercise?

I always look for a gym…..but I prefer to be outside….I’ll map out a route for a jog to see the town and the city…..but I love a good hotel gym. My husband likes to diet and loses five pounds before we go……then we eat everything…..Everything in moderation. Beforehand we cut put all the fun stuff……carbs and desserts……..on the trip we don’t even think about it.

How do you turn your hotel room into a haven?

I always take a heating pad….I’m always cold…….and it helps me to stay cozy. I use a sound machine app for white noise……and I always check ahead to make sure there is a robe in the room…..I love to be comfortable when I get ready. If not, I bring one with me.

Fave brand of luggage?

Briggs & Riley. We have many different sizes and pieces and it’s very durable.

Health and wellness products that you swear by?

I have daily supplements that I take,…..Vitamin D, C, melatonin and elderberry – it’s good in fighting off the common cold or feeling run down. I take it daily.

Beauty products that you swear by?

You’ll laugh – Q-tips – I realize how much I use them with eye shadow and correcting mistakes……..I make sure they’re fully stocked ….and anything by Moroccanoil. Their dry shampoo in a light shade for my blonde hair…..to stretch out your blowout and it helps with the roots

What is always in your carryon bag?

Always a scarf because I’m freezing……..planes get so cold, and a lot of reading material………my headphones……….and my iPad.

Favorite airline?

American Airlines….I fly them constantly…..I have great experiences with them.

Where is your next vacation trip?

Vienna over New Year’s…….to see the Philharmonic for New Year’s Eve……San Souci hotel. My travel agent suggested it. She knows our tastes at this point.

What destinations are on your bucket list?

Italy – but this time I want to do the Amalfi Coast…..it’s always on the bucket list – the people are so wonderful and warm and the food and wine are amazing.

What hotels are on your bucket list?

Out friends want to Amangiri and they pictures were stunning…….it’s in Utah – where you can travel to all the gorgeous national parks…….they said the food was great and the scenery was one-of-a-kind.

Favorite snacks on the go?

I usually take RX protein bars…..the chocolate sea salt — they’re the best – and I take nuts too…it’s a good energy boost……put them a plastic bag and you’re good to go.
