HIGH POINT — Scott Ingram Gregory passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was 73.

He was born in Washington, D.C., but spent most of his youth in Atlanta, Georgia. Scott graduated from the Kendell School of Design in Michigan, where he studied furniture design. His first design job was in Galax, Virginia. There he met the love of his life, his wife Judy. They moved to North Carolina in 1977, when he took a job with Otto & Moore furniture designers. From there he ventured out to start his own design company, Gregory Designs. He loved fly fishing and stamp collecting, but his real passion was sharing his scotch collection with his friends and family. Anyone who stopped by the house was sure to be introduced to Scott’s latest sampling of scotch within minutes. Scott loved tweaking his Shelby Cobra with his grandson, Spencer, and taking it to car shows. Scott and Judy traveled all over the world. They loved visiting old friends and family in Washington D.C., Atlanta, Ga. and Highlands, NC. One of his favorite things was having dinner with his grandchildren and hearing about all their latest adventures. He encouraged and loved their free spirits. One of his greatest heartaches was losing his grandson, Tyler, in 2019. We find comfort knowing they are together now.

Scott is survived by his wife, Judy, of 43 years; son, James T. Ward, Jr., of King; daughter, Jayne Johnston and husband, John, of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Spencer Johnston and Millicent Johnston; his brother, Henry D. Gregory and wife Amanda of Atlanta; and his nephew, Drew Gregory and niece Alice Legum. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Tyler Johnston, and daughter-in-law, Amber Ward.

We hope you will raise a glass with us “to Scott”. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, as well as a true friend to those who knew him. He was loved and will be missed dearly.
