Robert Patrick Donlin, 71, beloved husband of Nora “Casey” (Oliver) Donlin, of Essex, died Wednesday October 20 at St. Francis Hospital after a valiant battle with congestive heart failure. Born in New Britain, a son of the late Joseph and Harriet Donlin, he was a graduate of New Britain High School and the University of Massachusetts, having played football at both. He was scheduled to be inducted into the New Britain Hall of Fame in May of 2020, postponed to November of this year due to the COVID pandemic. Bob retired after a successful 40-year sales career with Allan S. Goodman Distributors, a job he loved as evidenced by his relationships with his colleagues and clients. Among Bob’s passions were fly fishing and cooking, always happy to share his latest “creation.” Besides his beloved wife, he leaves his children and their families: Matthew and Heather Henrey and their sons Quinn and Connor of Longmeadow, MA; Jennifer and Jason Hanna and their daughters Emma and Jillian of Higganum; Lisa and Jon Walden and their children Ema, Luke and Allison of Lithia, FL; and Steven and Candace Donlin and their children Joseph, Beth, Brooks and Jane of Brookfield, IL. Additionally, he leaves his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Margaret and Jim Moriarty of Rocky Hill; Tom and Tina Moriarty of Santa Clarita, CA; a sister-in-law Patricia Donlin of Maine; and a loyal friend, Todd Roberts of Old Saybrook. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Donlin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 23, 2021 at 10 AM in St. Patrick St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford.
