Richard Lee Heath, 93, was born on June 5th, 1927 to R. Ray and Alice Mae Heath and raised in Stillwater, OK. He passed away on May 29th, 2021 a week shy of his 94th birthday. Affectionately referred to as Rich by his children and grandchildren and known as Dick to most in the Stillwater community he enjoyed golf (especially his first hole in one at the age of 89!), fly fishing, and anything having to do with Oklahoma State University, plus he was an excellent dancer. He married Marilyn Lee Vassar on December 23rd, 1950 after knowing her only 6 months, they had three children. He believed in hard work, started working at the age of 13 mowing lawns, and went on to enlist in the Navy at age 17 serving in WWII. Following the war he graduated from Oklahoma A&M with a degree in Accounting in 1950 and was “very happy” to land a job in his field. Dick went on to work for several accounting firms before opening his own practice in downtown Stillwater in 1959. He was the Administrator for the Oklahoma Tax Commission from 1987-1991 at the request of his friend Governor Henry Bellmon, before retiring. While Richard was always very proud of his professional accomplishments he was most proud of his wife and his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Dick and Marilyn enjoyed traveling far and wide, playing cards, hosting a good party, and coffee and wine on the back porch daily. He had a knack for making anyone he met feel like they were important. Richard is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Ray Heath who died serving his country in WWII. Rich’s wife of 70 years, Marilyn, his three children Janet Thomas (Les), Kay Heath (Gene Franck), and Bobby Heath (Debbie), his 5 grandchildren Darcie (Grace), Brian (Mark), Nathan (Melissa), Trenton, McKenna and one great-grandchild, Max will continue to celebrate his life, his love, and his sense of humor throughout their lives. To commemorate his life, his family requests that you honor Rich’s memory through a random act of kindness in your community. Please join Richard’s family on June 5th, 2021 at 10:30am at the First Presbyterian Church, Stillwater Oklahoma, in celebration of his life.
