Richard Thomas Eppright, born November 21, 1955, passed away to his eternal heavenly home Friday, March 11, 2022.

Richard was the son of Dr. Richard H. and Margaret H. Eppright. A native Houstonian, Richard graduated from Lamar High School and was a proud member of the Texas A&M University Class of 1978, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Richard married his wife Anne Moore Eppright in 1982. They have two beloved children, Emily and Trey. The family made their home in the communities of Houston, Gonzales, Shiner and Fredericksburg.

Richard loved life and it was evident to anyone who met him. He was an avid outdoorsman and had many interests, which he greatly enjoyed: ranching, hunting, fly fishing, piloting private planes and raising and training his treasured dogs.

In addition to his entrepreneurial ventures, he worked in public accounting and as Chief Financial Officer of Graham Land & Cattle Company in Gonzales.

He made many friends in all his endeavors and maintained those friendships because, above all, the friendships he gathered were more important than the activities. Sitting around the campfire and fellowship were his priorities. He cherished his friends.

His servant’s heart led him to assist on his churches’ vestries and church councils, the Board of the Good Samaritan Center, the Region L Water Planning Group for the State Water Plan of Texas and as a Director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. He was also a Boy Scout leader and Little League baseball coach. Wherever he was he served well with integrity, humility and a gentle, confident spirit.

Richard is known for his love of life, his great sense of humor, his tremendous strength of character and his deep faith in Jesus Christ. He stood by his convictions to the end: God, his family, country and freedom. He lived and loved well. He was a faithful servant, a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Horace and Margaret Heidbreder Eppright of Houston and his grandparents, John Thomas and Caroline Winnefred (Carrie) Hindes Eppright of Charlotte and George Albert and Mary Margaret Dose Heidbreder of Ponca City, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anne, of 39 years, his daughter, Emily Collier Eppright Kirchner, her husband, Tim, and their two children, Annelise Kent and Pace Merritt, as well as his son Richard Thomas (Trey) Eppright, Jr., all of Fredericksburg, and his brothers, John Allen Eppright, wife Sandy and their children Nick, Brandon and John Thomas of Spring and J. David Eppright, wife Tonya and son Cullen of Cost.

The service will be held Thursday, March 17 at 1 p.m. at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church at 115 East San Antonio St.in Fredericksburg.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Texas Brigades, a wildlife and natural resource-focused leadership development program for youth, texasbrigades.org.
