‘Red, White, and Boom!’ 2022- it’s a wrap!

A very happy Independence Day was had by the many who filled the park and lined downtown Graeagle on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3 for the return of a beloved annual tradition in a slightly different format.

This year, the Graeagle Independence Day committee chose the theme “Red, White and Boom!” and the booms were indeed delivered over the Graeagle Mill Pond in spectacular fashion after a pancake breakfast, old-fashioned day in Herb Rowe Park on Saturday, July 2 and an intense cornhole tournament.

The tournament boasted a rather large, excited turnout of players, with father and son duo Gaige and Patrick White from Reno, Nevada sweeping the tournament and taking home a Camp Chef Portable Flat Top Grill after their win on Sunday, July 3 at the playoffs.

The Graeagle Fire Department annual pancake breakfast was a huge hit on the morning of Sunday, July 3, with a line that wrapped around the building outside and through the parking lot.

After the breakfast, many from the community and beyond were able to join in on the fun and spectate during the 48^th Annual Graeagle Independence Day parade as well.

This year, the parade was led by the High Sierra Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post 3758 and the American Legion Post 329, followed by the Grand Marshall, Plumas County Search and Rescue.

Local artist Danny Horton brought the tunes to the event, riding high amongst the trees and winding his way past the historic red buildings as he sang his hit “Miss Rose” after a night spent entertaining the crowd at the Mill Pond with ‘Rico’ Eric Peterson leading up to the fireworks show.
