The Otisfield Historical Society plans to celebrate its 41st anniversary from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 10. Its first program of the year will be an annual Strawberry Festival, featuring handpicked strawberries, homemade whipped cream and biscuits. The cost of the shortcake is $5. It will be served outside the Bell Hill Meetinghouse at the top of Bell Hill Road in Otisfield.

An Otisfield landmark, since 1839 the meetinghouse has functioned as both a community center and a church. The building is now owned by the Bell Hill Meetinghouse Association, a group dedicated to historic preservation. Designed by local architect Nathan Nutting Jr., it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, according to a news release from the society.

In addition, all are invited to explore the interior of the meetinghouse, where Maine artist Steven Philbrook will exhibit some of his watercolors. Philbrook’s passion for wildlife and fly fishing is demonstrated in many of his fishing scenes and landscapes. He has framed all his paintings in old barn boards and other weathered wood.
