Jeromy Duelley is the new Morgan County Schools Director of Attendance, Safety and Maintenance.  Duelley was a former .75 Berkeley Springs High School Assistant Principal and .25 Morgan County Schools Career Technical Education Director from 2015-2018.
Duelley was hired September 1 by the Morgan County School Board for his new position.  His first day on the job was September 16.
Duelley served as Paw Paw Schools halftime Assistant Principal and halftime fourth grade teacher from 2012-2015.  Duelley started his teaching career at Paw Paw Schools in the fall of 2006 and taught as a fulltime fourth grade teacher from 2006 to 2012.  Duelley said he’s glad to be back at Morgan County Schools.

Frederick County Schools

Duelley left Morgan County Schools in June, 2018 and went to Frederick County Public Schools in Virginia.  He taught fifth grade at Gainesboro Elementary for the 2018-2019 school year.
In the 2019-2020 school year Duelley was senior teacher/Dean of Students at Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School in Winchester, also part of Frederick County Public Schools.   Duelley said he was the eighth grade administrator at the middle school and was in charge of discipline and bus discipline and oversaw all the 504 plans along with cafeteria workers.

Education

Duelley graduated from Ritchie County High School in 2001. He graduated from Glenville State University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education for grades five-nine and social studies.  Duelley received his master’s degree in education and leadership from Salem International.
Duelley has also coached boys’ varsity basketball, junior high varsity basketball and boys’ baseball. He enjoys playing golf, bow hunting, fly fishing and West Virginia University sports. Duelley said he’s no longer coaching-he gave it up in 2012.  He has a three-year old child that takes up his extra time.

His duties

Duelley said that as Director of Attendance for Morgan County Schools he does attendance for grades preK-12 and also handles home-schooled students.  As Director of Safety he oversees anything that’s school safety-related including trainings, drills and COVID-19. Duelley also steers the school safety committee.
As Director of Maintenance Duelley oversees four maintenance crew members along with Tim Zeigler who is contracted through CMTA, the school system’s energy management company. Duelley said they work together to have all schools ready to go and anything that pops up that’s facilities-related they take care of it.
Duelley has been working with Morgan County Schools Superintendent Kristen Tuttle, other directors and principals.  He said it’s all going really well and it has been a very smooth transition for him.

Projects, goals

Duelley said he did work with the Bank of Romney who funded the outdoor signage-the new letters-at Paw Paw High School.  The project went very quickly.
Duelley has set up a schedule for the maintenance crew to follow where they’re at each school one day a week.  It allows the workers to focus on one building and to fix more of the little things while getting work done on some of the larger projects.  The new schedule started in December and has been a welcome change for the maintenance crew and school administrators, he noted.
A long-term goal for the maintenance department is to ensure that they’re always there to support the principals, teachers, cooks and custodians. For attendance, supporting home visits and taking items to homes if needed is also important.  Making sure that staff is trained for safety is another vital goal.
Duelley said it’s great to be back in Morgan County with people that raised him in education.
“It’s like stepping back into a place I never left,” he said.
