JACKSON, Wyo. — The International Game Fish Association (IGFA), along with Pure Fishing, has announced a new fly-fishing program for youth anglers that has launched this summer.
Spearheaded by IGFA Trustee Andy Mill, this new program will help young anglers in various locations across the United States learn the joys of fly fishing and the great outdoors. The IGFA has been working with Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School to execute these bi-weekly fishing clinics.
“We are excited to reach young anglers in Jackson and help expand the IGFA’s footprint into the freshwater fly fishing arena,” states IGFA Chairman Roy W. Cronacher, Jr., who is a part-time resident of Jackson. “We are very grateful for the support from fellow IGFA Trustee Andy Mill, the Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School, and Greys that have provided the rods and reels for these events.”
This new IGFA program launched in June 2022, in Jackson, Wyoming, where young anglers have met every other week throughout the summer to hone their fly-fishing skills and their knowledge of conservation and environmental stewardship. Additional locations are also being explored in Aspen and Vail, Colorado, and Sun Valley, Idaho, and should be launched in 2023.
“As an avid fly angler, I couldn’t be happier with the launch of this new program,” said IGFA President Jason Schratwieser. “Fly fishing is a terrific way to get kids involved in fishing and promote environmental stewardship.”
The final youth fly fishing seminar is on Saturday, Aug. 27, and the team is working on expanding programming for next summer. For more info on the programs click here.
