Neil H. Cronin passed away June 10th, 2022 at his home in Harwich, Massachusetts. He was born in Mount Vernon, New York on November 21, 1954 to Neil R. Cronin and Irene (Heinsohn) Cronin, now both deceased. He is survived by his loving wife, best friend, and first mate Patricia Cronin.
Neil is also survived by his precious daughter Kelly Cronin Bicknell (mother Cindy Crowell) and her husband Jeremy Bicknell who thought of Neil as more than just a father-in-law. He’s further survived by his beloved stepchildren Kelley Rawls (Ty), Kevin Haynes (Amanda Sheffield) and Shawna Haynes (Christopher Kincannon.)
As ‘Papa’, Neil was a daily presence in his beloved grandchildren’s lives. His greatest accomplishments in life will always be Lucas, Blake, Silas, Emberli and Brielle Bicknell, as well as Tauros and Tesla Rawls. He leaves behind his loving siblings Sean Cronin (Claudia), Deidre Hedmark (Kurt), Renee Cronin, Tara Cronin and Maura Connolly (Matt), along with his many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Neil was the captain of both his football and wrestling teams at Lake Forest High School in Illinois. He excelled in both sports and academics. Neil graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.A. in Anthropology.
Neil started his career with Amtrak first in New York City and then in Washington, D.C.. He made his permanent home on Cape Cod in 1985 after spending his childhood summers here. Up until his passing he was a well-respected Realtor since his founding of Commonwealth Associates Real Estate in Harwichport, established 1988.
Neil enjoyed creating memorable meals for his family and friends as well as traveling off the beaten path. For Neil, any job worth doing was worth doing well which was evident in his gardening, fishing, fly tying and being ‘Papa’. One of his favorite daily ‘Pursuits’ was making it to Final Jeopardy.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Harwich Rescue League in appreciation of their dedication, professionalism and compassion. Thank you.
We are all devastated over the loss of Neil Cronin. Except – perhaps – the fish in Nantucket Sound.
A memorial in Neil’s honor will be announced in the coming weeks.
