Are you a bourbon fan? A dedicated Matthew McConaughey stan? Just really into ranch life? Starting this week, people in Central Texas can embrace all three, as The Longbranch Ranch at Walden Retreats has begun taking bookings for 2023.
Located an hour west of Austin in the Texas Hill Country on the Pedernales River, the Longbranch Ranch is inspired Matthew McConaughey, who helped create Longbranch bourbon with Kentucky distillers Wild Turkey in 2018. McConaughey serves as creative director for Longbranch, Wild Turkey’s smoky, Texas mesquite-refined offering. He is seen in commercials for the bourbon wandering fields, sipping “the juice,” and waxing poetic about life, as one does.
Longbranch Ranch rooms will look and feel like the brand and the Oscar-winning actor, and will contain special surprises for guests, including a copy of McConaughey’s 2020 memoir Greenlights.
“Longbranch Bourbon brings people together and sparks connection in unexpected ways, so let your imagination be your compass and indulge in finding the beauty in it all,” McConaughey said, characteristically, in a release.
Additionally, the ranch will feature a private cocktail session with Longbranch cocktails and food pairings, an audio-guided hike through the Hill Country, personal guided glow-in-the-dark night fly fishing tours, and intimate live music performances.
Bookings begin at $425 (and can vary by season), and guests must be 21 or older to book.
Longbranch is donating the equivalent cost of the stay with each booking to The Trail Conservancy (formerly The Trail Foundation), which “protects, enhances, and preserves” the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail around Austin’s Lady Bird Lake.
