Loren E. Bentley
NORTHVILLE – Loren E. Bentley, 93, of Northville, passed away recently after a short illness.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Irene C. Bentley, parents Ervil M. Bentley and Harrient Van Fleet Bentley, his brothers Ervil Bentley, Jr. and Morris Bentley from Cambridge.
He is survived by his children: Lorraine Bentley of Gloversville, Bruce Bentley of Mayfield and Mark Bentley and his wife Kathy of Duluth, GA; his grandchildren: Lindsay Bentley Munro and her husband Simon, Todd Bentley and his wife Sarah, Patrick Bentley, Brian Bentley, Connor Bentley; and his great-grandchildren: Alya and Shepherd Munro, Jesse and Michael Bentley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Loren grew up on the family dairy farm in Cambridge and after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the US Navy. He was a WWII Veteran and served on the USS Hanson, a destroyer, in the sea of Japan.
He retired from the Grand Union corporation after 36 years as the Store Manager in Northville. He later worked for Charlie Johns Market in Speculator and Coleco. He was a Life Member of the Northville Fire Department and served on the Grievance Committee for the Northville Tax Assessors Office. His favorite activities were deer hunting at hunting camp in Cambridge where his nickname was “Hornet,” with two of his high school buddies up until their 80’s, fly fishing for trout and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Loren and Irene will be interred at the Saratoga National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
