Mystic – It is with sadness and great love that we announce the passing of Leslie T. “Les” Laumeyer, 80, Nov. 25, 2021, of Mystic, (formerly of Fairfield).

The second born of eight children to the late Earl and Loretta Laumeyer, Les was raised in St. Charles, Mo., and graduated from St. Charles High School. After graduating from high school in 1959, Les joined the United States Air Force where he especially enjoyed his time stationed in Okinawa and Cape Cod.

Les was an extremely hardworking person and took pride in never missing a day of work. He joined the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) in Boston, Mass., and spent most of his career working for AT&T. Les retired from Lucent Technologies in 1999, as a Finance Manager.

Les had a passion for learning and pursued his varied interests with zeal. Reading, golf, biking, gardening, music, painting, photography, fly fishing and cheering for his favorite sports teams were just a few of his many hobbies. Les was a former president of the Seniors Golf Association at H. Smith Richardson Golf Course in Fairfield. The family has endless memories from vacations on his beloved Cape Cod, flying kites and walking the dunes. He loved to laugh and was always up for a prank, a joke, or a game of cards. He truly loved spending time with family and friends.

Les was a devout parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption in Fairfield and Saint Patrick Church in Mystic and was an active member of The Knights of Columbus at both churches.

Les was the recipient of a kidney transplant in 1996. He and his family were forever grateful for this wonderful gift. Les faced many health challenges over the last 15 years but always managed to persevere without complaint. The family deeply appreciates the numerous friends and caregivers who were always there with support and guidance.

Les is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lorraine; and their three daughters, Kristine Burrichter (Michael) of Lawrence, Kan., Laura McBride (Thomas) of Mystic, and Amy McNamara (Kyle) of Alexandria, Va.; his nine treasured grandchildren, Joshua Burrichter, Jack Burrichter, Rachel Burrichter, Sarah Burrichter, Faith McBride, T. Quinn McBride, Charlotte McNamara, Patrick McNamara, and W. Finn McNamara.

Les is survived by his brothers, Robert Laumeyer of Brentwood, Tenn., Thomas Laumeyer of St. Charles, Mo., Gerald Laumeyer of Florence, Miss., and Michael Laumeyer of Bradenton, Fla. He is also survived by his only sister, Barbara Caleca of Sun City, Fla.
