MIDDLEBURY – Judith A. Wood (Judi), of Middlebury, completed her “grand adventure” on Oct. 16, 2020.
Judi was born on Feb. 23, 1947, in San Francisco, Calif. She is survived by her sister, Mona Morgan of Fort Smith, Ark., and her brother Jim Goodloe of Gardnerville, Nev.; daughter Kathleen Eberhardt of Chico, Calif.; and sons Alex Eberhardt of Seymour, and Ryan Banham of Pittsburgh, Pa.; grandchildren Brittney Campbell, Jeremy Campbell and Naomi Eberhardt; as well as her eight great-grandchildren.
Judi was preceded in death by her parents Leyland and Jean Goodloe.
Judi started her career as the first female kitchen designer for Sears in the early 1970s in California. In the ’80s she made the change to reservation agent for United Airlines that brought her to Denver, Colo.
In the late 90s, at the age of 60, she reinvented herself again by obtaining her master’s degree in behavioral sciences and started a career in clinical therapy, something that she had wanted to do since high school. Judi retired and moved to Connecticut in 2015.
Judi was a very strong, independent and resilient person. She enjoyed exploring nature and even tried her hand at fly fishing. She loved to learn new things and meet new people, which she did throughout her adventures across the country.
Some of her best friends she met after moving to Connecticut. They made her feel welcomed and loved.
Judi’s love of animals was well known. From her cats to her dogs, they were like family. She got her Alaskan Malamute “Sophie” trained to be a certified therapy animal and spent years with Sophie treating hundreds of people.
Services will be conducted on Nov. 14, 2020 at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Middlebury.
