Amongst the many golfers who got together to send wishes to Nicklaus, one was Jordan Spieth. He said, “If I were to wish him a happy birthday, I’d say, ‘Jack, I hope you’re spending it in your favorite place: Pebble Beach. And I hope you’re getting the opportunity to do what you love to do, which is play golf. Actually, now that might mean fly-fishing, too. Either way, I hope it’s a really great one. Taking on life the way you have until you’re 80—that’s an accomplishment.’”

Spieth has only teed up once in the new year, at the Tournament of Champions at the Kapalua Plantation Course. In a decent performance, he finished T-21, with a total score of 18-under par. Since then, he is yet to play again. However, he has recently committed to the Phoenix Open slated to be held next month. So unless he decides to make an appearance in between, we can definitely watch him play at TPC Scottsdale.

Spieth’s win drought of four years finally ended last year as he snagged the title at the Valero Texas Open. However, while building consistency, his game is still on the erratic side, as we noticed from his other performances.
