JACKSON, Wyo. — Jim Rooks believes that the “spirit of compromise” is a cornerstone of democracy, especially at the local level. The Town of Jackson needs to remain united. We do not need to compromise our core principles, but can almost always find “common ground” toward mutually agreeable solutions.

Jim Rooks is a fifth-generation native running for a seat on the Jackson Town Council. Here are some of his action goals for Jackson Hole:

Economic Support & Revitalization

COVID-19 will have serious and long-lasting impacts on Jackson’s economy. November 2020 is time for ACTION. Our town needs to lead a nimble and effective response to inevitable national, state and local economic challenges. We need to invest in small-local business, entrepreneurialism, school-to-careers, infrastructure, web access, eco-tourism and local-regional events.

Wildlife and Habitat Conservation

Jim Rooks is an outdoor enthusiast, including everything from skiing and mountain biking to fly fishing and bowhunting. Our wildlife is a core reason why we all love, and live, in Wyoming. We must protect our animals and their habitat whenever possible.

Education (K-College) & Youth Opportunity

We are fortunate to have quality schools in Jackson, both public and private. However, more can be done to provide expanded opportunities for our young citizens. In addition to 25 years in public education, Rooks is a father to two children.

Jim Rooks envisions a 21st-century network of youth opportunities, including programming-focused career exploration, internships, school-to-career courses and entrepreneurialism. Private-public cooperation is required to ensure our children and young adults are best prepared for the modern world.

Housing & Transportation

Our quintessential moment of truth is now! We are either going to transform our housing and infrastructure, or we aren’t. We all know the costs of inaction, as well as over-reaction. Complex problems call for complex answers. Centrist public policy will allow us to consistently move forward, despite significant challenges. Both sides need to come together to forge common-sense solutions to obvious problems.

As town councilman, Jim will represent the people of Jackson, anchoring his legislation and vote to the values of the Constitution, Cooperation and Community. To learn more about Jim’s platform, visit votejimrooks.com.
