James Ellis Cameron, 68, of Frederick, MD, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born June 22, 1952, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Doris Ruth (Boyd) Cameron and James Wilbur Cameron.
James was a 1970 graduate of Clear Spring High School and attended Hagerstown Community College and Eastern Kentucky University. He is a graduate of Hood College, where he received his Master’s Degree in Teaching.
He was employed with Washington County Technical High School, where he taught criminal justice. He was previously employed with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Hood College, and Marriott.
James was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick and a member of the Columbia Lodge #58 AF & AM in Frederick. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and enjoyed hunting and fly fishing. James also enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams throughout the years.
James is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Janet Lee Cameron; son, James Christopher Cameron; daughter, Amy Janelle Jones; 3 sisters, Sherrie Cameron, Cordis Cameron, and Tina Cameron; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Harvey Cameron.
The family will receive friends at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD, on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 5 to 7 pm. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
