Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina is accepting applications for the Facebook Grant for Sustaining Black Communities. Funding will go toward nonprofit organizations and programs in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties supporting innovation, creativity and resiliency in Black communities.
Applications will close at 5 p.m. Feb. 10. The Grantmaking & Community Leadership Committee, comprised of local volunteers, is expected to make final award decisions in May. Virtual Q&A sessions will be held over the next week to assist applicants.
The For the Love of the Lowcountry online auction opens at 6 p.m. Feb. 11 and runs through 6 p.m. Feb. 21. All proceeds support Lowcountry Land Trust’s work preserving vital Lowcountry lands and waterways.
Auction items include an English-style pheasant shoot at Fife Plantation, a custom canvas in oil dog portrait with framing, fly fishing for four, a guided duck hunt for four with an overnight stay at Midway Plantation, and a guided deer hunt for two with overnight accommodations in Dorchester County.
Trident United Way’s Lead United program is accepting applications. The six-week program will equip participants with skills to serve on a nonprofit board of directors, focusing on educating professionals and skill-building for board-level service opportunities. Applications are due Tuesday.
Fetter Health Care Network will be hosting its COVID-19 vaccination clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Greater St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1836 Jedburg Road in Summerville.
Doses will be administered on a first-come, first-serve basis to those who qualify for Phase 1a, as designated by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.
Warrior Surf Foundation will hold its fifth annual Charity Golf Classic on May 22 at Wescott Golf Club. All proceeds will go towards the foundation’s veteran program, which aims to enhance physical and mental well-being, improve communication skills and foster community.
Registration includes access to play in the tournament, dinner, beer and live music. Sign-in begins at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at noon, followed by dinner and raffle prizes at 5:30 p.m.
Graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year higher-learning institution can apply for the 2021 Steinberg Law Firm Scholarship.
Five seniors will be chosen to receive a $1,000, based off their essay entry and their community involvement, special honors and awards, and school activities. The deadline to submit an entry is April 5.
