As we near the last week or so of the election season, I am sharing a shortened version of my earlier profile for those looking to learn more about their candidates.
I grew up in northern New Jersey and spent childhood summers with local cousins in our nearby forests, lakes, and streams. As a passionate fly fisherman, hiker, and photographer, I still spend most of my free time out enjoying nature. I hold a master’s degree in Business (MBA) from New York University, and an undergraduate degree in Economics from Drew University. My career has included investment management, organizational strategy and improvement, healthcare innovation, and corporate responsibility.
Public service is a privilege and should not be taken for granted. Doing it well takes humility, the will to listen, respect, perspective, and vision. As your Councilman, I will provide these needed traits along with fresh ideas. I will listen and understand what is important to you, so that I can best represent our collective needs and ideas. In fact, this has already begun, as my many conversations with residents and businesses have informed my four overarching priorities: Transparency and Community Engagement, Fiscal Accountability, Sensible Development, and Environmental Responsibility.
We are fortunate to live in such a special place. As your Councilman, I will focus on caring for our present while thoughtfully planning for our future, always respectful of our responsibility to protect Sparta’s character, lifestyle, and natural beauty. You will be an engaged partner, with simpler access to policy, project, and financial information.
My community service and participation extend beyond my official capacity of being appointed to our township’s Environmental Commission. I have been honored to participate in several 9/11 Remembrance and Flag Day ceremonies, deliver Sparta Recreation’s fly fishing course, host annual educational booths at Sparta Day, help run a Sparta Litter Clean-up, provide hands-on support for the annual Youth Trout Derby, and proudly march in our Memorial Day parade. Additionally, I helped restore our Sparta Glen Brook and continue to serve as Conservation Chair and board member of Trout Unlimited’s Northern NJ chapter (based in Sparta). I led the one-year anniversary community-wide event, and value the township’s appreciation and bronze commemorative sign installed streamside.
I take pride in my thorough, independent-minded approach, and my ability to find common ground across various viewpoints. I am grateful for all the support received over the past months and eagerly look forward to the honor of serving as your Councilman.
