Just as things started to feel (almost) normal again this summer, local Georgian Bay musician, Victoria Yeh, was back on stage, rehearsing, touring and playing to thousands of people.
But with new restrictions looming, Yeh’s work, along with the entire performing arts sector is on hold yet again.
“It felt so good to share music with people again – everyone was just overwhelmed with emotion,” said Yeh from her home studio. “So it feels very disappointing to once again see shows cancelled and audiences turned away at the door.”
A year ago, before vaccines and before an end was in sight, Yeh created a virtual concert series to stay connected with her audience, funding the massive production feat with virtual ticket sales and generous funding from BruceGreySimcoe, Long & McQuade, D’Addario, and the participating towns in the series.
Available until recently only to paid pass holders, Yeh is now releasing the entire Travel by Sound Concert & Adventure Series for unlimited free on-demand streaming, just in time for the holidays.
“Music is healing. It’s inspiring. It’s uplifiting. We could all use that, so I really wanted to share this music more widely, especially right now,” said Yeh.
Travel by Sound is a six-episode series featuring 20 celebrated Canadian musicians (including Juno and Grammy award winners) performing in concert halls throughout the
BruceGreySimcoe region, with bonus intermission segments highlighting local sights, tours and adventures.
