ROCKPORT — Georges River Trout Unlimited (GRTU) welcomes Mike Greene, Monday, Dec. 12, for a presentation on the beautiful and unique native salmonids here in Maine, specifically Brook Trout, Artic Charr, Lake Trout, Landlocked and Atlantic Salmon and Lake and Round Whitefish. His presentation will discuss the natural history, feeding and spawning, sporting opportunities and outlook for the future for these native fish.

The GRTU meeting will be held upstairs in the fly shop at Maine Sport, in Rockport. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. with “Trout Talk,” an informal gathering for those who wish to visit before the presentation. The formal meeting and featured presentation begin at 7 p.m.

Greene has been a member of Trout Unlimited (TU) since the late 1980s and a fisherman since his teenage years. Fly fishing became a passion while living in Western Virginia pursuing native Appalachian Brook Trout. Greene serves on the board of the Merrymeeting Bay TU chapter, is heavily involved in Maine TU Trout Camp, is a former chairperson of the Native Salmonid Committee and is the current Vice Chair for the Maine State Council of TU.

Trout Unlimited is a nonprofit organization with a mission dedicated to conserve, protect and restore North America’s cold water fisheries and their watersheds.

GRTU conducts a raffle directly following the speaker.

TU membership is open to all. GRTU meetings are free and open to the public.
