He retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in 2013.
He was an avid hunter and fly fisherman, a testament to his father and the way he was raised. Being an avid outdoorsman, he traveled the world trying to find the biggest fish and the biggest buck or bull he could find.
Staying in contact with his friends from the Army, it was they, who often joined him on his big adventures. Whether it was saltwater fly fishing for sailfish in the coastal waters of Costa Rica; fly fishing for tarpon in Guadeloupe or fly fishing for salmon off the banks of the Italio River in Yakitat, Alaska with his best friend Wayne or hunting moose with his friend Mike or hunting caribou in the Alaskan Tundra with his friend Alan; Mr. Culpepper always strived to be a part of the outdoors.
Unfortunately, due to health issues, his last fishing adventure took him to Cordova, Alaska to fly fish for silver salmon in 2017. His last hunting adventure, took him to Northeast Wyoming, hunting antelope with his son in 2018.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Delisa Culpepper. His three children, Candace Ochsenbein of Gainesville, Florida; Tonya (Eduardo) Del Valle of Scottsdale, Arizona; George (Nicole) Culpepper, Jr. of Thornton, Colorado and five grandchildren, Hailey Ochsenbein of Gainesville, Florida; Fiona Del Valle of Scottsdale, Arizona and Noah, Savannah and Greyson Culpepper of Thornton, Colorado.
