FlyCast River Forecast and Mystic Fly Rods will host a Fly Golf Tournament from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday September 11 in James Q. Newton Park located in Conifer.
The tournament cost $25 per person. 50 percent of the proceeds from this tournament will be donated to their partners at The Mayfly Project. Mayfly is a 501(c)(3) organization that uses fly fishing as a catalyst to mentor children in foster care.
FlyCast and Mystic have teamed up to offer anglers a unique and enjoyable way to hone in on their casting, take part in a little friendly competition and support a good cause.
Like traditional golf, they’ve adopted many of the same rules and combined them with the benefits of backyard casting practice. Players will take part in a nine-hole course and compete for the lowest score as well as a shot at the grand prize provided by Mystic Outdoors.
The tournament will be shotgun-style meaning groups of three individual players will all start on a different hole. The round itself will take roughly two hours with distance and short game casting competitions, a raffle as well as beers and food to follow.
Like traditional golf, participants are encouraged to come a little early to get a feel for the course, warm up and catch up with your fellow fly golfers.
