‘Excellent turnout’: Students take part in Career Exploration Fair | News, Sports, Jobs

Presenters in numerous career field shared with students at Tidioute Community Charter School this month.

Students in grades seven through 12 participated in the Career Exploration Fair at the school.

They completed surveys prior to the event to help organizers invite the proper professionals.

“During the fair the students filled out at form for ten different careers fields,” Office Manager Heather Cass said. “The students had to list information on the passport that they leBased on the surveys and invitations, a total of 38 presenters talked with the students about educational needs, salaries, and pathways.

Presenters included representatives from the following fields and specialties:

¯ Healthcare — EMS and nursing home administrator;

¯ Beauty and cosmetics – beautician and fashion designer;

¯ Law enforcement – state trooper, municipal police chief, sheriff’s deputy, and attorney;

¯ Agriculture – Warren County Conservation District, Pennsylvania Beef Council, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, crop farmer, nutritionist, and miller;

¯ Trades – electrical union, carpenter, machinist, excavator, locksmith, welder, boiler inspector, Penelec lineman and substation, steamfitter, construction worker, and real estate agent;

¯ Manufacturing – United Refining, Superior Tire, polymers with Penn State Behrend, and Whirley Drinkworks;

¯ Wildlife and forestry – Pennsylvania Fish Commission officer and hatchery, forester, Pennsylvania Game Commission, Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, fishing guide and captain, and fly fishing adventures;

¯ U.S. Postal Service;

¯ Culinary;

¯ Vocational rehabilitation services.

“We had an excellent turn out,” Cass said. “The students gained a lot of information from these professionals and possibly some new career ideas.”
