Donald (Bud) Olsson
April 24, 1950 – June 28, 2022
Bud Olsson passed, Wednesday, June 29th at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 24th, 1950 to Bud and Jean Stewart. After the death of his father, his mother remarried John Olsson, who adopted Bud and his sister Sally. Bud graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School in 1968. Then attended the University of Washington in Seattle where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He earned his bachelor degree in Forestry. It was there he met his wife, Janeese. They married in 1973.
Later in life Bud received his master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance and Financial management service from Concordia University in Seward, NE. One of his proudest moments was earning his pilot’s license. And he enjoyed being a volunteer with Junior Achievement.
Bud’s career spanned many years and multiple industries, He worked in the banking industry, found First Nebraska Trust Co with his cousin John Guenzel and was principle driving force with E Energy Group. Bud retired from Great Western Bank in 2016.
Buds love of the great outdoors was immense. He had many great times with family and friends on his motor cycle. He was particularly fond of fly fishing the North Platte in Wyoming. Having hunted across North America, he still found the Sandhill’s of Nebraska his very favorite. He was a member of the Red Deer Hunting Club and enjoyed his time hunting water fowl more than other pursuit.
Bud is survived by his wife, Janeese, sisters: Sally O’Neil, Liz Jordet and brother John Olsson and sister-in-law, Jody Olsson; nephews: John Lewis, Matt Olsson, Jack Olsson and his wife Kelsie; Nick Olsson and Steve O’Neil and his wife Beth; niece, Kate Olsson; and several great nieces and nephews. Aunt Jo Stewart and cousin’s Ann Lundy and Elaine Harris.
