Cheryl Horsley Connors, 77, left us on Friday, January 21, 2022, in ladylike fashion after a long battle with multiple health issues. A pure example of acceptance, love and devotion to those around her, Cheryl was loved by all who knew her.

Cheryl was born in Ogden to George Sr. and Mildred Horsley on March 12, 1944. Cheryl’s greatest legacy resides in the hearts of her four children Dr. Rafe (Jenn) Connors, Traci (Brad) Olsen, Matt Connors, and Bret (Vicki) Connors. She spoke of them as her greatest joy. They always knew how fortunate they were to have her and took pride in her as their mother. She was the ultimate example of selflessness, sacrifice, love, hard work, acceptance and unbreakable will.

Cheryl was a proud alumnus of Ogden High School, class of 1962. She furthered her education at the University of Utah, graduating in dietetics and becoming very familiar with the inside walls of the library. She then completed an internship at Peter Brent Brigham Hospital in Boston. She worked at the old Dee Hospital and McKay Dee Hospital. Later, she started her own dietetics consulting business where she consulted at nursing homes throughout Utah and Southern Idaho. She worked for Weber Human Services for over 40 years writing menus and continued serving on the board after she had retired. She was affectionately known as the “Kitchen Witch.”

Cheryl was not afraid to try anything new and was not fond of her children telling her not to take risks. She was seen rollerblading, skiing, fly fishing, snowmobiling, completing ½ marathons, mountain biking, rafting, and traveling over multiple continents. She loved her home, and planting flowers and vegetables in her yard. Most recently, her passion lay in watching her grandchildren in their activities, playing golf, pickleball and quilting. She always had a great time golfing even if she had a bad game. She was known to share with anyone her love and willingness to teach them to play pickleball and many that she leaves behind were blessed by her love and talent to quilt.

She loved her Heavenly Father and relied upon her Savior throughout her life.

She is survived by her children, 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren and many friends which were family to her. She is also survived by two siblings, Dr. Rolfe (Pat) Horsley, and Janet (Art) Muellar. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents and her brother George Horsley, Jr.

At Cheryl’s request, private memorial services were held at Lindquist Mortuary. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Utah Food Bank or just do something nice for an elderly person.
