Shank, Carl C. ALBANY Carl C. Shank, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was born on October 31, 1924, in Avis, Pa., to the late Clarence and Johanna Shank. Carl was predeceased by his wife, Hilda Kraus; sister, Dorothy Pullen; and dear friend, Gerane Edwards. Carl was the cherished brother of Shirley (Richard) Scherer; and loving uncle of several nieces and nephews. Carl worked for many years at Tobin Packing Company. He then worked at the Capital District Psychiatric Center as a groundskeeper. Retiring at the age of 90, he received many awards for his years of employment. Carl was a United States Naval veteran who served in World War II as a baker. He loved bowling, fly fishing, tying fishing flies, trimming shrubs for all his friends, the Cleveland Indians and the Saratoga Race Track season. Carl had many special friends who enriched his life. Many thanks to the Giglio family, the Berger family, Steve Silvano, Clark Thomas and all his friends at the Route 155 Stewart’s Shops in Guilderland. Carl was the kindest, most gentle and generous person. He will be forever missed. Carl’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital Progressive Care Unit and 5 Brady Farrell for their compassionate care. Private services for the family were held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in Colonie.
