Calvin Franklin Culley, also known as “Frankie” and “Digit,” 75, of Roxboro died Monday, May 17, 2021. Born in Pittsylvania County, VA, he was the son of the late Leroy Culley, Sr. and Inez Eddins Culley. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three brothers: Freddie Culley, Phillip Culley and John Wayne Culley.
Mr. Culley was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He loved the Lord and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Culley worked in construction for Brown & Root Industrial Services, LLC at the Hyco Plant. He was the owner and operator of Culley’s Welding for many years. “Digit” loved spending his time fly fishing, watching NASCAR and watching the old western televisions shows.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Angela Loftis Culley of the home; daughter, Chastie Culley Blackwelder and husband, David of Wake Forest; two brothers: Leroy Culley, Jr. and Alfred Culley and wife, Vickie, all of Roxboro; two sisters, Bonita Gilliand and husband, Huel and Mary Lee Clayton and husband, Clinton, all of Roxboro; grandson, Marcus Blackwelder; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 20 at the Brooks & White Chapel with the Rev. Barry Chambers and the Rev. Marvin Suitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Burchwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (1-2 p.m.).
