The Buena Vista Public Library’s event calendar is packed for January, with regular programming for kids and adults returning alongside a number of special events. Some events require pre-registration for limited seats. The library will be closed on Saturday, January 1 for New Year’s Day and Monday, January 3 for a staff in-service day.

Youth and Teen Programs
Animal Crackers
Date: Every Wednesday (Jan. 12 to May 18 – No class March 23)
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Audience: 0-5 years old

KILT: Kids Into Learning Things
Date: Every Wednesday (Jan.12 to April 27)
Time: 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m.
Audience: Age 5 to 9 years old, siblings welcome
Each week we’ll take on projects with a different STEAM focus. Kids will have an opportunity to be curious, explore, wonder, and be amazed by learning. Designed and delivered by the parents of Ark Valley Homeschool Families and the Library.

Wiggles & Giggles
Date: Every Thursday (Jan. 6 to May 26)
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Audience: 0-5 years old

Music for Kids!
Date: Every Thursday (Jan.20th to March 31)
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Audience: Age 4 to 6 years old. Younger siblings may attend with a caregiver.
A special ten-week series to get kids clapping, singing, and stomping their feet! Our talented instructor, Lynette Clemons, of Ruby Lucille’s Music Box, will use instruments and songs to engage and support growing kids.

Alphabet Story Time
Date: Every Friday (except 1st Friday of the month) (Jan. 14 to June 3)
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Audience: Ages 2 to 5, siblings welcome

Coding Club
Date: Every Friday (Jan. 28th to May 20th – No class Feb. 18th & March 25th)
Time: 4:00 p.m.
Audience: 6th-12th grade
Use computer science to change the world. Learn from fun and simple online coding tutorials, build community through interactive activities, and develop skills to build animations, games, apps, and more!

Make & Take K2
Date: Tuesday, Jan. 4
Time: 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Drop in anytime)
Audience: K-2nd grade
Activity: Fairy Tale Engineering. Kits are also available as Make and Take activities after the program.

Make & Take MASTERS

Audience: 3rd-5th grade

Yoga Class

Qigong Class

Skill: Taiji Shen Gong (Part 1)
Qigong involves coordinated, slow-flowing movement, deep breathing, and a meditative state of mind.

The Artist’s Palette: New Art Skills for Adults

Fly Tying 101 (Part 1)

Learn the art of fly tying through two intensive Saturday workshops. Take a deep dive into the skills and knowledge of fly fishing and learn to tie flies by hand. Registration Required. Part 2 will be Feb. 5, 9:30 to 3:30 p.m.
