Larry and Mary Ann Brooks will celebrate their golden 50th wedding anniversary this week. The couple were married June 24, 1972, at the First Baptist Church in Lexington, Mo.
Mr. and Mrs. Brooks honeymooned in Estes Park and continually returned for family vacations and weekend getaways. Some of their favorite sites and activities include MacDonald Book Shop, Mama Rose’s, the old Indian Store and cherry stand on Highway 34, fly fishing, and of course viewing wildlife in town and in Rocky Mountain National Park. They have seen the area change over the past 50 years but have always been in awe of the beautiful landscape.
Although not true “locals,” their condo has given them the opportunity to be a part of the community and its great people. From hiking trails, snowshoeing, shopping, playing miniature golf, beating the rush for morning donuts at the old Donut Haus, fishing, or simply relaxing next to Fall River, they have made many memories in this wonderous town (even when experiencing and evacuating from the local wildfires). Thanks to them, their children and grandchildren have been able to experience the miracles of Estes Park.
As they celebrate this week, with family coming in from around the country, be sure to wish them a “Happy Anniversary” when you see them!
