The Gamehaven Council, which serves Boy Scouts of America in multiple southeast Minnesota counties, has hired Franklin “Frankie” Sears as its new executive director/scout executive, effective April 16.

“Frankie is a dynamic leader who will help our terrific volunteers and professional staff deliver the exciting and formative principles of scouting to young people in our communities,” Council President John Devlin said in a statement.

Sears most recently served as assistant scout executive/COO for the Baden-Powell Council in Binghamton, N.Y. As scout executive, Sears will oversee all Boy Scout activities in Dodge, Fillmore, Goodhue, Olmsted, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona counties and the council’s camp operations at Gamehaven Scout Reservation in Rochester.

Sears is an Eagle Scout who enjoys spending time camping, hiking, and fly fishing. He and his wife, Virginia, have a 5-year-old daughter, Eliza. The Sears family plans to move to southeastern Minnesota in early July.

Jeff Allman, who chaired the selection committee, said “We had representatives from throughout our area on the committee and everyone agreed that Frankie is going to be a natural fit in our council.”
