Four exceptional students from Minuteman High School were recently chosen as Students of the Term for Term 1, Assistant Principal Brian Tildsley announced Dec. 20.
Receiving this honor are freshman Madison Bruno of Lexington, sophomore Annie Lindor of Arlington, junior Elias Bak of Belmont and senior Taien Gorman of Belmont.
Bruno will be selecting a career major shortly, as will the rest of Minuteman’s freshman class. Lindor is in the cosmetology program, Bak is studying environmental science and Gorman is in culinary arts.

Students of the Term are picked for each term of the school year based on nominations from Minuteman faculty members. One student is selected from each grade level.
The criteria include excellent grades, good citizenship, helpfulness to peers, participation in the Minuteman community, attendance, character and diligent effort in class.
The honorees receive a Student of the Term certificate and lunch in Minuteman’s student-run restaurant, The District, with Principal George Clement.
Bruno was enthusiastically praised by teacher Constantine Georgopoulos when he nominated her. He noted, “[She] works hard on her grades [and is a] kind, polite, well-balanced young lady.” Her favorite academic subjects are either math or history. Bruno’s activities outside of the classroom include playing soccer and softball. She plans to either attend college or enter the workforce right after graduating from Minuteman.
Lindor wants to work in esthetics, earn a business degree and someday own a salon. cosmetology teacher Melissa McLaughlin said, “She is hard working, dependable, reliable, a team player, and conscientious. Her work is always on time, she has great attendance and always strives to do superior work.” In addition to cosmetology, Lindor likes biology. She has fun while baking, reading and cheerleading.
Environmental science teacher Emily Kotwal praised Bak. “He is force of positivity in our class and is friends with everyone. He is honest about his own opinions and accepting of others’. He shows up for school events, pushes himself to try new things and approaches new situations with a shrug and a ‘Let’s give it a try!’” Bak’s hobbies include photography and fly fishing. He has not settled on a future career yet, but is thinking about being a photographer, conservation biologist or welder/machinist.
Gorman is thinking of learning about molecular gastronomy and owning his own restaurant in the future. Video games, cooking and photography are among his leisure-time pursuits. Teacher Beth Nardone lauded Gorman’s industriousness and strong work ethic in her nomination. “I am very proud of what he was able to do independently this term. He is a student without attendance issues or behavioral struggles and has always done really well in culinary!”
