Andrew John Kobela, 81, of Nuangola, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at Hampton House Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Hanover Twp.
Born in Nanticoke July 26, 1940, he was the only son of the late Andrew Kobela and Helen Semaneck Kobela, Nanticoke. He graduated from Nanticoke High School, Class of 1961. Andrew served 23 years in the U.S. Navy as an electrician’s mate, 1st class.
He retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot where he was an electrician for 18 years.
His hobbies included camping, fishing, fly fishing and woodworking.
He was a life member of Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church; American Legion Post 781, Mountain Top; Destroyer Escort Sailors Association; and Boy Scouts of America, Troop 385, Rhone.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Rutkoski Kobela; daughter, Melanie, Nuangola; and numerous cousins. He will be sadly missed by his four beagles, April Rose, Dixie, Bella and Lila.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stegura Funeral Home, 614 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, 240 Center St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. Walter Pasicznyk officiating. Friends may also call 8 a.m. to service time Wednesday.
