On July 13th, 2022 we lost our wonderful son and brother, Alexander Reece Van Poppel. He was born on August 8th, 1995 and would have been 27 years old. Alex was known for his quick wit, giant heart, and passion for food. He was kind, talented, unique and beloved. He will be greatly missed. Alex was athletic and excelled in baseball as a youth and was an excellent skier. He also learned the love of fly fishing and enjoyed camping, boating and fishing with his friends and family. He lived in Evergreen, CO with his two lively cats. Alex found his work passion in cooking. He attended the Art Institute’s Culinary program and became a chef working in many of Denver’s best restaurants. Alex developed his skills as a kitchen manager at the Evergreen Brewery. He made a mean Thanksgiving dinner and could cook a five-star dinner on a camp stove. He leaves behind his father, Kevin Van Poppel of Evergreen, CO, his mother Marian Reece Van Poppel of Denver, CO, his sister Grace Van Poppel of Denver CO. A Celebration of his Life will be held at Red Rocks Rock Room on his August 1st, 2022 from 11:00 to 3:00. V
