Two weeks after announcing its first entry into super luxury glamping in Moab, Utah, Ulum, outdoor specialists Under Canvas announced today a projected opening in a favorite destination: Yellowstone National Park. In June, Under Canvas North Yellowstone-Paradise Valley will open near the north entrance of the park on 50 acres of Montana ranchland with extensive valley and mountain views plus a river running through it.

When it opens, this camp will supplement one that the company already operates near the west gate. “For more than 10 years we have hosted guests from around the globe at the first of 11 Under Canvas locations, near the primary, West Entrance to Yellowstone National Park,” explains Matt Gaghen, CEO of Under Canvas. “We know that travelers are looking for more access to the expansive Yellowstone area and given our origins in Montana we are able to introduce them to the less discovered and exceptional Paradise Valley region, with access to Lamar Valley with its incredible wildlife viewing including wolves and bison, and Mammoth Hot Springs’ incredible geothermal features. The site itself is unique. It’s quintessential Montana ranchland similar to what viewers have seen on recent shows such as Yellowstone that highlight the American West scenery. The Paradise Valley property has amazing views of the Absaroka Mountain Range and over a mile of riverfront access, with the Yellowstone River running right through it, providing recreational options steps from guests’ tents or al fresco dining.”

The camp, located 20 minutes from Livingston and 45 minutes from Bozeman, will offer 50 safari style canvas tents with king sized beds, refined linens and a wood burning stove all on elevated decks with ensuite bathrooms. Given the proximity of the Yellowstone River, on site fly fishing is available to guests; other activities on site include live music presentations and daily yoga. The Under Canvas Adventure Concierge can also arrange activities off the premises such as horseback riding through the nearby mountains and plains, river rafting, luxury float trips hiking and live musical performances at nearby Pine Creek Lodge.

Dining on the riverside property at the onsite Embers Café is relaxed but creative, spotlighting local purveyors and a paricular focus on Western style barbecue and smoked meats. Typical breakfast selections will include items such as honey vanilla French toast with maple syrup, berries and scrambled eggs and house smoked pork belly, a cage free egg, mushroom polenta, stewed pepper and green onion. Coffee aficiandos will also have the barista brewed preparations they rely on in the city due to the involvement of Australian coffee specialist Bluestone Lane. At dinner, selections include roasted trout with farro, white wine braised greens and pepperonata and braised chicken thigh with roasted mushrooms, polenta and fresh basil. A grab and go selection of lunch dishes will be available to take along on adventures and a kids menu will also be included since families will be a significant portion of the camp’s guests. And with dog accessories and treats, the families’ pets are welcome too.
