A new organization called the Susquehanna Headwaters Environmental Collaborative will be sponsoring two events on Saturday, July 9th in Oneonta’s Neahwa Park. The Eco-Fair will kick off at 11 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. and the Eco-Feast happens from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Exhibitors at the Eco-Fair, “can be municipalities, educational institutions, non-profits, or anyone who is doing environmental work,” Anna Rutenbeck, coordinator of the Collaborative, said in an interview with CNY News. “It is going to be a place where people can learn about what is going on environmentally in the area.”
The fair will also feature live birds of prey, an electric car show, food trucks, live music, and a puppet show about soil by Arm of the Sea Theater. The Eco-Feast will be a ticketed event in the late afternoon. “We want to celebrate our connection to the Chesapeake Bay watershed,” Rutenbeck said. “The Eco-Feast is the fundraising arm of the event. It will be a catered boiled crab dinner.”
The Eco-Fair replaced the long running annual Earth Festival held in Milford to celebrate Earth Day.
