Michael R. Brensha, 79, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on his way home from a vacation in the Florida Keys on Monday, May 17, 2021.

He was born in Scranton, a son of the late Michael and Albina Brensha. He was a graduate of the Johnson School of Technology with a degree in tool and die.

He moved to Connecticut to work in defense contracting. He proudly served his country, receiving an occupational deferment from the draft because of the specialized skill set he had manufacturing parts for the minuteman missiles and the helicopter jet propulsion systems during the Vietnam War.

He returned to the Wyoming Valley after the 1972 flood as a sheet metal mechanic to help rebuild many schools and hospitals. He was a member of the SMW Local 44 for many years.

He was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, hiking and camping all of his life. He also enjoyed his family and friends. After his retirement, he traveled to all 50 states and a few neighboring countries. He especially enjoyed fly fishing for tarpon in the Florida Keys for the past 20 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Robert; and a sister, Marlene Cicchi.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 37 years, Lynne; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, Wilkes-Barre.
