Scott Rowen
Scott Rowen passed away on May 31, 2021, after a long illness with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Scott was born on Sept. 4, 1950, in Portland, Oregon, to Dr. Gerald and Mary Helen Rowen. He grew up in Miles City, Montana, and graduated from Custer County High School in 1968. Scott received an appointment to the Military Academy at West Point, graduating in 1972, after which he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He served six years, including three years in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1978, after attaining the rank of Captain. Scott received the National Defense Service Medal upon discharge. Scott graduated from the University of Colorado with an MBA in 1980 and was married to Julie Schneider, his wife of 40 years. Scott spent his career in finance, working for Hughes Aircraft Co. of Southern California and then Raytheon Corp in Northern Virginia.
Scott and Julie raised three children, Matthew of Fallbrook, California, Sean (Amanda) of Portland, Oregon, and Lisa of Denver, Colorado. He loved his family, travel, history and economics, golf, fly fishing, football, soccer, the Beatles, and rock and roll music.
Scott is preceded in death by his parents and brother Brent. He is survived by his wife, Julie of Billings; sons Matthew and Sean; and his daughter Lisa; sister Valerie Rowen; his brother Todd (Teresa) Rowen; as well as many nieces and nephews.
After cremation, a memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer’s Disease Research would be appreciated.
The Rowen family thanks the staff of Tendernest for the good care they’ve given Scott over the years.
