Cotter Trout Festival this Saturday

The Cotter-Gassville Chamber of Commerce will hold the 19th Annual Cotter Trout Festival on Saturday at Big Spring Park.

Activities include a parade, a car show, a ragball tournament, duck races, a kids’ fishing derby and booths for artists and commercial vendors.

The event’s parade will open the day’s activities at 9 a.m. The parade route will begin at Cotter’s 2nd Street and Combs Avenue and continue through downtown to Big Spring Park. Opening ceremonies will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the park, with a public welcome, announcements and a singing of the National Anthem.

Live music will be provided by The Leslie Williams Band, the Kattie Laney Project and Jerry Hopper and friends. The Leslie Williams Band will perform from 10 until noon, while the Kattie Laney Project will take the stage from 1 until 3. Jerry Hopper and friends will perform twice, once at 4 and then again at 7.

The car show will begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day, with the winners being announced at 2:30.

The kid’s fishing derby will be from 10 until 2 at the Cotter Trout Dock. The event is open to kids ages 4-15.

The North Arkansas Fly Fishers and Dally’s Ozark Fly Fisher will hold fly casting and fly-tying demos from 10 until 4.

Tickets for the duck race may be purchased until 3, with the duck race beginning at 3:30 near the bridge over the spring.
