BALDWIN – Bud Kloosterman enjoys all the opportunities he gets as a hunter and fisherman in Lake County.

“I do quite a bit of fishing, but not as much hunting since I have a couple of bad legs and can’t get around as good in the woods,” he said.

Kloosterman did plenty of hunting in the past.

“I did turkey hunting, a lot of bird hunting, deer hunting, duck hunting, almost all of it,” he said. “We just got back from Florida and I did a lot of fishing down there. I still like to do a lot of fishing up here. I’m basically a fly fisherman. Getting back in the streams is a little tough.”

As for fly fishing, “I like the solitude of it,” Kloosterman said. “You’re all out there by yourself. It’s the beauty and the solitude of it. I just love it.”

He occasionally has a fishing partner besides going solo.

“I like to do both,” he said. “Right now, I live on the Baldwin River, and it’s low, so we need some rain to get that going and get the water back up. I think the steelhead fishing should be pretty good.”

Kloosterman loves fishing in his neighboring Baldwin River.

“There’s browns and in the spring steelhead and in the fall salmon,” he said. “We do catch some rainbows. It’s an excellent river for fishing.”
