James W. “Jim” Batchen, 70, of Mars, formerly of Knoxville, Tenn., and Buffalo, N.Y., passed away Tuesday evening, March 9, 2021, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born June 16, 1950, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late James W. and Sophia Stackiewicz Batchen. Jim was a regional sales manager for Graphic Controls in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a member of St. Kilian Church, in Cranberry Township, and the Knights of Columbus there. He also belonged to the Franklin Township Pointer and Setter Club and the Lawrence County Sportsman’s Association. Jim enjoyed fly fishing, bird hunting and sporting clay shooting. He was the husband of Celine M. Wessel, who he married Sept. 9, 2000, father of Jason Batchen (Natalie), of Kittanning, and Justin Batchen (Nicole), of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., grandfather of Brody, Alexander, Jordan, Luke and Camren, brother of Jeff Batchen (Joni) and Susan Johns (Jim), both of Monroeville, nephew of Pat McCloskey (Don) and uncle of Jeffrey Batchen, Jennifer Harrover (Jake) and Samantha D’Uva (Tony). Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME INC., 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. A blessing service will follow at 2 p.m. with Father Charles Bober, pastor of St. Kilian Church, officiating.
