The Dark Hendrickson Wet is a great all-around pattern for springtime fishing, or at any time that there are dark mayflies available to trout. The pattern is production fished on a traditional wet-fly swing, dead-drifted, or even twitched. It’s just buggy enough and suggestive enough that trout fall for it regularly.

Hook: 3X-strong, black nickel barbless hook (here, a Fulling Mill FM5105), size 14.
Thread: Brown Veevus, 16/0.
Tails: Medium dun hen hackle fibers.
Body: Natural muskrat fur dubbing.
Collar: Medium dun hen hackle.
Wing: Barred lemon wood duck fibers.
Adhesive: Head cement (here, Sally Hansen Hard-As-Nails).
Tools: Plunger-style hackle pliers, whip-finisher.
