Max Duane Wolfgram, D.C., 84, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester from complications of progressive supra nuclear palsy and COVID-19. He was born on September 19, 1936, in Oelwein, the son of Verner and Arlene (Vogt) Wofgram. Max attended and graduated from Oelwein Public School in 1954. He then attended and graduated with honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1953. Max started his chiropractic practice in Opelousas, Louisiana, then moving to Guttenberg. He then moved to Manchester and practiced from 1967 until retiring in May of 2001.

On November 19, 1960, Max was united in marriage to Barbara Cook, the daughter of John and Marjorie (Adams) Cook at Methodist Church of Lamont. Together they raised Lori and Brian in Manchester.

Max enjoyed his elk hunting trips to Colorado, fly fishing locally for trout and small mouth bass. Canoeing and backpacking with his son, Brian and friends, on the Boundary Waters of Ely Minnesota was another enjoyment. He enjoyed hiking at Backbone State Park in all seasons, was a huge enthusiast of his ham radio and was very proud of his German heritage. Max was an avid photographer and had his photos published and was an entrant in many photo contests, but most of all Max enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Barb of Manchester; his daughter Lori (Douglas) Martin of Estelle Springs, Tennessee; his son Brian of Manchester; two granddaughters, Dr. Tara (Tyler) Nielson and Abby (Michael) Ruether both of Nashville, Tennessee; two great-granddaughters, Tory and Tatum Nielson and one great-grandchild on the way; one sister, Janice High of Meridan, Idaho; his aunt, Ardith Graf of Oelwein; his brother-in-law Donald (Kim) Cook of Lamont; and seven nephews.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Ben High and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Arnold and Betty Bahe.
