Georges River Trout Unlimited will present Eric Frohmberg Monday Feb. 13 in the fly shop at Maine Sport in Rockport, for a talk about major categories of insect behavior, such as locomotion, respiration, reproduction and development, and how they relate to fly tying and fly fishing techniques. He will present categories of behaviors that can be recognized and acted upon while fishing, adding a competitive edge to  fly fishing. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. with Trout Talk, an informal gathering for those who wish to visit before the presentation. The formal meeting and featured presentation begin at 7 p.m.

Frohmberg studied entomology at Kansas State University and Oberlin College before switching directions to Environmental Toxicology. Discovering fly fishing added a new dimension to his interest in entomology, eventually leading to his producing Angler’s Entomology Podcast at anglersentomology.libsyn.com/ in which he covers the major insect groups and discusses their habits and behaviors that fly anglers can take advantage of — or just appreciate. He is also the resident entomologist at his wife’s fly shop — Selene’s Fly Shop in Gardiner.

Trout Unlimited is a nonprofit organization with a mission dedicated to conserve, protect and restore North America’s cold-water fisheries and their watersheds. GRTU conducts a raffle directly following the speaker. TU membership is open to all. GRTU meetings are free and open to the public. Visit Facebook, or online at georgesrivertu.org.
