Barbara Corps

Barbara Corps, of Holme Manor Care Home, passed away on November 6, at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 90 years.

Barbara worked at Newchurch Boot and Shoe as a flat machinist until she retired in 1990. Barbara loved sport, in particular Burnley FC and Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Much loved sister of Micheal, Douglas, Brenda and Sheila and the late James, Derek and Jeffery. She was a loved aunty, great aunty and great great aunty.

A service took on Friday, November 18 at Accrington Crematorium, conducted by David Hamilton. Family flowers only, donations to Alzheimer’s UK. Donations can be made online: www.fredhamer.co.uk (tributes and donations).

Jack Tattersall

Jack Tattersall of Broadway, Helmshore died suddenly and peacefully at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on November 4, aged 79 years, with his loving family by his side.

Jack was born in Helmshore and always lived locally. Up until retirement he worked as a wagon driver for Lancashire County Council.

Jack was mad about motorbikes all his life and had owned quite a few over the years and always took an interest in what bikes his brothers’ had. He was also interested in any kind of wildlife.

Jack leaves behind his beloved wife Jean, brothers Ken and Chris, sister Renee and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was a brother to the late Margaret, Edna, Jean and Val and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

His funeral will take place on Thursday, November 24 with a service at the Chapel of Rest at Johnson, Durning & Woods at 10.30am, followed by a burial at Haslingden Cemetery. Derek Holden passed away at his home on November 3 after a long illness, aged 86 years.

Upon leaving Haslingden Grammar School he served an apprenticeship in pattern making engineering at Stott’s Foundry in Haslingden, until he started his own engineering business, which he ran with his wife, Pam, for over 30 years. His favourite hobby was fly fishing, and he became president of Haslingden & District Fly Fishing Club.

Derek was the beloved husband of Pam, dear father to Kathryn and Carolyn and father-in-law to Chris and Stuart. He adored his five grandchildren, Joseph, Henry, Felix, Harriet and Matilda, and his lovely great grandson Milo.

A funeral service took place on Friday, November 18 at St Thomas Church, Musbury at 10.30am, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium at 11.40am. Family flowers only, Donations to Cancer Research UK.

Diane Ingham of Aldenbrook, Sunnybank Road, Helmshore, passed away on November 8, aged 69 years.

Diane died at her sister’s house surrounded by her devoted family, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Diane worked at Sunderland’s Travel Agency in Rawtenstall from the age of 16, up to her retirement.

She loved nothing more than being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren, who she adored. She loved to travel and over recent years enjoyed city breaks with her girl friends. Diane was also a very keen reader.

Diane was the beloved wife of the late John Ingham, mother to Rachael and Louise, mother-in-law to Jon Paul and grandmother to Jacob, Ben, Hollie and Josh. She also leaves sister Geraldine, brother-in-law David and nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 21 at 2.30pm at Burnley Crematorium. Family flowers only and donations to Cancer Research.

Barrie Howard of Bury Road, Rawtenstall, passed away with his family by his side on November 7, aged 78 years.

Barrie was a mining engineer at Deerplay Collier, then went on to work study, works manager and works director. He then ran his own business delivering fuel and also renovating property, before his retirement.

He loved spending time with family and friends, foreign holidays and in his younger days played football for Goodshaw United. He was also a member of the Rawtenstall Conservative Club, former member of the Kay Street Baptist Table Tennis League.

Barrie was a much loved husband to Judith, his wife of 55 years, father to Dale, daughter-in-law Nicola, and grandsons Reece and Connor. His funeral will take place on Tuesday, November 22 at Winfield Funeral Home, James Street, Rawtenstall, BB4 7NE at 10.30am, conducted by Rev Rod Bevan.
