It is always nice to know that where you live is the friendliest and best around.

While many of us believe Grand Rapids is the friendliest town in Michigan, there are several surveys and articles that say otherwise.

According to Only In Your State, that lovely honor goes to the town of Ludington.

“Ludington is located along the shores of Lake Michigan in Mason County. This lovely harbor town boasts a rich history, some of the prettiest scenery in the state, and upwards of 8,000 welcoming residents.”

Ludington has a quaint downtown area with bookstores, different boutiques, toy stores and so much more to experience.

If you are not feeling the beachy vibes, there is also plenty of campgrounds and sand dunes to check out at Ludington State Park.

With all of that being said, Grand Rapids’s downtown area is beautiful. I am still confused why it is not the friendliest place in Michigan.

While looking up other friendly places in Michigan, Travel Awaits has its own answer for the nicest town in Michigan.

Hint, it is still not Grand Rapids.

That honor for Travel Awaits goes to Saugatuck.

“Nestled on the sands of Lake Michigan, Saugatuck is a quaint Michigan beach town. The city itself has a population of 865, while the greater township area is home to 3,443 friendly nature enthusiasts, art lovers, and foodies.”

They even highlight that Saugatuck has one of the best beaches in Michigan called Oval Beach. Alongside the love of the beach, Saugatuck also has great hiking trails if that tickles your fancy.

Even though Grand Rapids does not have any beaches, there are several in the surrounding areas. So, I believe that still adds to my argument.
