Francis A. Dube, 73
1949 – 2022
Scarborough, ME – Francis A. Dube, 73, of Lovell, ME passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Donna (Conrad) Dube, who passed in 2014.
He was born in Salem, MA on January 5, 1949 a son of Claire M. (LaChance) Dube of Swampscott, MA and the late Roland R. Dube. He grew up in Swampscott and graduated from Essex Agricultural and Technical High School in Danvers, MA in 1967. He then attended UMASS Amherst for Forestry and then subsequently employed by the US Forest Service in Missoula, MT as a firefighter on a rapid response team.
He remained employed with the US Forest Service until receiving the call in 1970 to become part of the Swampscott Fire Department, where he spent the next thirty-two years. Moving to Lovell, ME with his wife in 1989, he then commuted from Lovell to Swampscott for 13 years. After retiring from the Swampscott Fire Department in 2002, he was hired to plow snow for the town of Lovell leading him to a full time position where he then retired from the town of Lovell in 2012. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in Lovell, ME from 1990 and remained a member for 32 years.
He was drawn to being in the outdoors. Whether it was hunting for cottontails in Massachusetts as a boy or deer behind his home in Lovell, fishing for stripers and bluefish down to Martha’s Vineyard or fly-fishing small mountain streams for trout. He enjoyed snowmobiling in the cold months of winter. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden in the summer months growing many different vegetables from asparagus to zucchini. All of which he enjoyed sharing this time with family and friends.
Besides his mother he is survived by his two sons; Michael Dube of Revere, MA and Paul Dube and his fiancée Jennifer Chiulli of Middleton, MA and his stepdaughter Lindsay Crooker-Mazariego of South Paris, ME. He also leaves four grandsons Marcelo, William, Nicholas and Cameron as well as three brothers Robert Dube and his wife Donna of Topsfield, MA, John Dube and his wife Angela of Swampscott, MA and Roger Dube of Beverly, MA as well as several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also leaving a longtime companion Catherine Butkovic and her family.
Service Information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on July 9, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at the Lovell No. 4 cemetery on Kimball Road in Lovell.
