Donald J. Clayton

Burlington – Donald J. Clayton, business owner, with his wife, Pat, of The Shopping Bag Inc., and lifelong resident of Burlington, Vermont, passed peacefully May 14, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Don is survived by the love of his life, Patricia; his children, Stephanie (Dan) Mangan, Howard (Maria) Moody, Brian (Lisa) Moody, Joshua (Amanda) Clayton; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother Robert (Mary) Clayton, Gary (Sheila) Clayton; and many, many friends.

Don was a spiritual man, volunteering many hours to the church. A member of the Knights of Columbus, a head usher at St. Joseph Cathedral, and a member of the Elks Club. Donald enjoyed being an avid outdoors man with his lifelong friend David Boivin, spending his time fly fishing and hunting.

Above all, his family was the most important part of his life. Don was predeceased by his parents, Willburn (Bud) and Rita Clayton; sisters, Deborah Clayton, Doris (Tootie) Houston.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 10 am in St. Joseph Cathedral, Allen St., Burlington. Interment will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.

The family would like to thank TLC Homecare, UVM Hospice Home Health, and Boucher & Pritchard Funeral Home for putting Don’s comfort and care first.
