James L. Ellis, Sr.
Johnson City – James L. Ellis, Sr., 75, passed away March 31, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda R. Ellis and son Jimmy Ellis. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley (Ernie) Harrington, Karen Connors, Sharon Curley, Linda (Paul) Stasiuk, brother Richard Ellis, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Susan and Lionel Ellis. Jim enjoyed growing up in the country outside of Binghamton. He graduated from JC High School and Broome Tech CC where he met Linda. He continued his studies at Central Connecticut State University and completed his BS degree at SUNY Binghamton. He enjoyed corresponding with his former roommate Dave for over 50 years. Jim retired from IBM after 35 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He formerly played softball in the IBM League and also for Boulevard Methodist Church and Primitive Methodist Church, where he had been a member. While a member of Trout Unlimited he enjoyed fly fishing and fly tying and was a member of the Fly Tiers Club. In his lifetime, he enjoyed spending time with his friends fishing, golfing, playing tennis, traveling, gardening and cheering on the Buffalo Bills. One accomplishment he talked about was climbing Mt. Marcy. He also enjoyed meeting with his friends Bob and Bill for breakfast and fly fishing with Butch. He was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about history. Jim will be missed every day.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St.Binghamton (Due to road construction approach from Bevier St).
