Tommy Theodore Bennett, 86, a resident of Harman, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Crystal Springs, West Virginia.
He was born Thursday, March 28, 1935, at Harman, West Virginia, a son of the late Thomas William Bennett and Olive Rebecca Reed.
On July 30, 1954, at Oakland, Maryland, he was married to the former Collette Cooper, who preceded him in death May 8, 1997.
Surviving are three sons, Ronnie Bennett and wife, Peggy, Chris Bennett and wife, Dana, and Eric Bennett and wife, Janet, all of Harman; one daughter, Cindy Cook and husband, Dave, of Harman; two brothers, Michael “Doc” Bennett of Harman and Dave Bennett and wife, Darlene, of Elkins; one sister, Bonnie Teter of Harman; eight grandchildren, Derrick Bennett, Melanie Snyder, Dustin Cook, Candy Knotts, Megan Bennett, Dakota Bennett, Aaron Bennett and Devon Bennett; and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding him death are sister-in-law, Evonne Bennett; and brother-in-law, Foster Teter.
He was a graduate of Harman High School with the class of 1954. He worked construction building three shopping malls, two in Ohio and one in Springfield, Illinois.
He was co-owner of Bennett’s Texaco from 1962 until 1982. He was an employee of Butcher’s Construction Co., until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of the Job United Methodist Church. Tommy loved bear hunting, fly fishing and gardening and he was a loving dad, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and uncle.
The family will receive friends at the Job United Methodist Church at Harman on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Final rites will be conducted from the church on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at 11 a.m. Steve Wymer will officiate and interment will follow at the Bennett Family Cemetery at Job, West Virginia.
